You may be asking your self how can a window save energy and what makes a window energy efficient?

There is a low E (short for emittance) glass that contains an invisible metal coating that sandwiches between the layers of glazing, that causes the glass to be reflective. They keep the house warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

There are new components in insulating the glass that can create a more energy efficient glass, these are glass coatings, a new gas filler, warm edge spacers & frame materials.
Energy efficient windows make sense, sitting next to a window and feeling a draft of cold air come in immediately tells you to turn on the heat to compensate for the drafty window. Now you are using more heat and energy than necessary because of a window that is not designed to totally keep the warm air in.

These days with a lot of talk about energy efficiency and green power, we all have to do what we can to conserve energy because in the long run will help the planet not to mention your wallet. You see the bill every month, especially in the winter, why throw away money when you can look into the energy efficient windows.

Tru-Plas is leading the way with our energy efficient installations and is now accredited to label our own windows with an energy rating. Only a small handful of companies have this ability and we at Tru-Plas are extremely proud we are leading the way in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire by making your home more energy efficient. This has been awarded by the BFRC and is available to view below.

Tru-Plas Limited ACHIEVES ENERGY EFFICIENCY LABEL FOR WINDOWS

Local company Tru-Plas Limited has been awarded the right to label its windows, ‘Energy Efficient’ by the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC), which is the body responsible for window energy ratings in the UK. Windows, like many of the domestic goods we buy, can now be energy rated with the A to E label that we are all familiar with, but only windows assessed by the BFRC have the right to display the label. Tru-Plas Limited had to pass a rigorous assessment process in order to achieve an energy rating for its windows and now can offer Windows and Doors with varied energy ratings to householders looking for a more energy efficient option.

So exactly what are Energy Efficient Windows?  They are windows that help to contain and conserve heat within your home keeping out wind and rain and yet allowing natural “free” energy - the warmth of the sun - to heat your home. By switching to Energy Efficient Windows you could save energy and reduce your household bills by as much as £461 per year (in an electrically heated house) and reduce your carbon emissions too.

Comments from Mark and Rhys at Tru-Plas: “We are delighted to have been awarded the BFRC label for our windows.  We have worked hard to ensure our products are energy efficient and to have the BFRC formally recognise that we achieved it, is great.  Today more and more customers are keen to choose products that can help them save energy and help save the planet.  Our windows do just that and this label is their guarantee.”
